fuel smell when idling
the smell is coming from the pass side of the engine.i can't see any fuel leaks.i only smell it when it idles.i've read that engine fires are common, could it be the pulsation dampner?

check before replacing.....could be an injector.....could be a really rich exhaust.....could be a bunch of things....get under the hood and get back to us

i took a good look at my 7 and what i could see is the upper intake manifold gasket is leaking.it's too damn cold right now, so i'm going to take care of it this weekend.it's supposed to be warmer this weekend.

Sigh.....

Eh, nothing wrong with the banjo bolt. I'd rather have a couple rich spots (assuming that's even true) then have my car catch fire.

i do have a slight exhaust leak at the manifold gasket.i have to retap the hole this spring. i can see fuel deposits on the area where the intake gasket is leaking.

Do your eyes burn when you have the hood open with the car idling? stock exhaust manifold or recent manifold change? it sounds like you have an exhaust leak. If you cant find it, seafoam can help find it for you.
a leaking intake gasket could give messed up AFRs and confuse the electronics because air is bypassing the sensors so the readings will be false thus the engine runs odd. |
