Removing the A/C.
Ok, so my car is a convertible... and it has A/C. Now, it works alright at the moment, but I autocross, and want to take it out to save weight. I know that it is a pressurized system, and that it needs to be bled so that you dont hurt yourself when removing it... more later.

Well, I did it a little different. I said, "Hey look at this tire valve on the A/C line, I should see if it unscrews with my valve stem tool."
Then I walked away and got some lunch.

naw, that's done on purpose. Ours were environmental accidents. Like Exxon Valdez but no news.\
EDIT: don't try to hold the tire valve open with your fingers.

Weird thing is... even though my AC system WORKED (poorly) prior to taking it out, only a puff of "air" came out when I unscrewed it.. Lasted a second or two. Wore a respirator... that stuff causes super-aids. Just one teaspoon in your butt and your dead in 3 weeks. |

The one one I 'accidentally' removed was on the passenger side near the UIM. Maybe.

I got lucky, I just unscrewed one of the hard line fitiings and someone had done the "dirty" part for me, no pressure, just lube. removed everything I could get to (still have the pump, fat hands don't fit well down there with the p/s still there) and called it good.

Side note: If you do happen to inadvertently remove the valve from the line, or remove a line, be sure to cover the car, or have a fan blowing away from the majority of the car. That friggin PAG oil will get EVERYWHERE.
Ask me how I know.

Well, I'm thinking 2 things: Wear some nice and thick gloves, and put a huge ass towel in front of one of the schrader valves...
