The Renesis wheel won't work with the 3-rotor currently. I've spoken with Haltech and they'll look into it but I'm not holding my breathe. Honestly, with the missing tooth configuration of the Renesis wheel, I'm not sure it will ever work with the 3-rotor. I've asked and asked for Motronic support (say 36-1 or 60-2) for the rotarys but for some reason there's no interest at Haltech. That would be a very simple, easy to construct, inexpensive crank trigger option for all the rotary engines.
We can build the mag trigger to work with the 3-rotor/FD cover. No problem there.
If you're using the FD cover you will be able to use the FD trigger wheel without issue. The FD crank trigger works really well. It's just a PITA to try to retro-fit to the earlier engines. The FD front cover has the proper recess for the sensors, which the earlier covers don't. Without that recess it's just real hard to package everything. I've spent many hours staring at the Cosmo cover and FD trigger wheel trying to figure out how I could make it all work together in a relatively easy manner without much to go on.
With the Platinum Series Haltech has certainly raised their game. The latest firmware update (dues out soon) for the Sport ECUs has some neat new features and they've been pretty consistent in providing more content for the ECUs as time goes on. They're also working on some neat CAN modules that will allow more external logging and sensor inputs/aux outputs that can be easily plugged into the base ECU to expand it's capabilities. Their certainly a big step up over what the previous generation of ECUs were. You know I'd be more than happy to give you the hookup on parts and install too.
