I'll start a list!

1. fikren

The way we are going to do this is split it into two days...

Day one will be April 12th, 2008 (Saturday) from 9AM -11AM - Engine Basics

Day two will be April 13th, 2008 (Sunday) from 9AM- 11AM - ECU basics

This way it will give people to enjoy the event and hang out.

WE3RX7 02-27-2008 03:18 PM

Sweet - I remember you mentioning this a while back and I'm down.

I should mention, even if you feel that you have a good foundation for tuning and rotaries, I've noticed sometimes these classes are a good opportunity to learn something maybe you didnt realize before or have forgot - also, the more knowledge the class has, the better the class.

Count me in!

I'm still working out the details.. most likely I'll start accepting payments early with discount and also high pricing at the event. I haven't sent out a mass email about this either so, I'm just going to wait another week or so.

By the way, THIS class is designed so that those who has NO clue about rotary engines could learn more about it.. some of you with experience owning a rotary for years might find some parts to be redundant. I don't want you guys to get frustrated because everyone need to be on the same page.

Also, This is a basic tuning class.. We will give you the basics regarding what to look for and the principle behind tuning but the class will not be going into SPECIFIC ECU and SPECIFIC SOFTWARE. If we did, the lecture will be FAR too long and far too detail. But after learning tbe basics, most of you should feel comfortable about learning either on your own or thru Chuck Westbrooks notes...

Overall, this class will be FAR less than any ECU training classes.. and you'll probably learn more about rotaries..

WE3RX7 03-03-2008 12:29 PM

Still sounds good - I've never seen/heard Chuck Westbrooks, so it should be interesting.

Will the seminar have any "take-homes" out of curiosity? Not sure how he's conducting the class, etc.

I've got some experience in both departments but its said that the greatest practice the basics.

Plus, what the hell else am I going to do for those two hours.....I'm not missing out on a US129 cruise am I? May as well be learning something :)

DRTHVDR 03-05-2008 01:15 PM

I doubt it, I don't think they are really getting into any specific EMSs. I hope to do this as I am running a LT10s Microtech.

Shouldn't be, concepts are the same plus I think this is a BASIC INTRO type of deal so it probley won't even get into changing settings in the PFC.

85rx-7gsl-se 03-05-2008 02:20 PM

Microtech > PFC :D Jk Jk Though Microtech is pretty sweet for FCs.

KaiFD3S 03-05-2008 03:11 PM

Will you do a conference call...lol...Guess I will plan to go to this next year...I wonder if they rent out Rx7's or Rx8's...lol..

Herblenny 03-05-2008 11:06 PM

Sorry for the delayed response.. One of the fellow 7 owner stopped by and I been working on my car tonight..

I'm trying to have the 1st part before we have lunch.. So, I don't think you'll miss out.. Pending how it goes, the instructor might make it shorter.. But it will most likely start at 9 and end at 11AM... As of now, you are welcome to go off to US129 after lunch:)

We are trying to give the basics.. I think once you get the basics.. then you might find that learning other ECU might be easy. This is to get everyone on the same page. If there are people who's interested in learning more specifics of PFC, we could have advance class later on. Advance call will be longer and more expensive... All pending interest.

Again, Im a believer of tuning your car on your own.. Why pay someone to guess on your tuning when you can datalog and get it done right.. You'll understand what Im saying at this intro class..

I think it would be cool to have the additional advanced classes, but maybe at a different venue, etc so that we could have dyno on site and some other devices to help explain, etc. I'm sure one of our sponsors/shops would be willing to host.. just a thought.

Herblenny 03-07-2008 01:38 PM

We'll go over advantage of Dyno vs. Street..

To be honest with you, there are quite a hype about dyno vs. Street.. By attending this, hopefully we could eliminate or clarify some of that.

WE3RX7 03-10-2008 02:27 PM

Hmm - the two guys that are coming w/ me I dont think have signed up, one is a carb guy, so EFI wont do much for him... I'll lean on the 2nd guy and see if he'll sign up.

Is this up on the DGRR website as well? I saw the blast emailer go out - maybe you should do a reminder.

Phil, Who is doing the seminar?

Herblenny 03-22-2008 09:27 AM

SPOAutos.. He was on the first group in USA to get PFC. SPOAutos was also the first person in USA to break 400+HP on twins. He's definitely qualified and VERY professional.

fikren 03-22-2008 02:34 PM

SPOAutos = chuck?

Herblenny 03-22-2008 02:52 PM

Stephen = SPOautos :)

WE3RX7 03-23-2008 08:14 PM

Sounds good...

classicauto 03-24-2008 08:30 AM

Phil, should we pay pal you this money? or do you want to get it in cash at the event?

DRTHVDR 03-24-2008 09:52 AM

I think Phil is a fan of the "Greenbacks"
