come on, everyone has shot a fireball or 2. :)

my single has a tendency to want to ride on the bumper skirt and of course it is a little bit melted by now. i should redo it but of course customer cars take precedence over my own.

i don't like tips sticking out beyond the bumper because it looks assy but it does protect the plastic.

do you think those downward firing/facing "dolphin tail" mufflers help any in regards to bumper life extension?

Rotary Evolution 04-23-2013 01:55 PM

they may help to some small extent, it really all depends how far the tip sits away from the end of the bumper. the FD has more problems with this than most because the end cap curves out after the muffler.

best method is to just tune it properly with either lean decel or decel fuel cut and do not allow the muffler tip to touch the bumper skin/guard.

a few fireballs on the freeway after some pulls won't hurt anything.

All you FD's and your fireballs...

I almost burned my FD to the ground a few years ago. I was deflooding and forgot to pull the EGI fuse, thus the spark plug wires were still sparking. All the plugs were pulled and I was flushing the gas from the engine. Had a large towel to catch the fuel as I cranked.... Then.. WOOOSH, the towel goes up like a fuckin firework. It took about 20 seconds to spring to the fire extinguisher and put it out. Ultimately, a crispied pieces of harness and a little cleanup.

I was VERY lucky. My FD was in the garage when this happened. Ultimately, it could have burned my house down. I took a long break after that dumby move.....
