Whats your option on this swap ? I know its all factory equipment. I my auto belts work and everything I just not into them. I like the manual feeling. I have a blue set with the full interior from a S4. Now my friend has a pair of manual s5 belts from a vert that are black. So what your take blue or black manual belts ?

TAKE THE BLACK!!! If you don't then pick them up FOR me and I'll pay you when I see you this weekend.

Seriously, manual belts are the way to go, no motors, no getting stuck, no cables getting pulled and no dealing with Mazda if belts break and they don't wanna fix it.

Manual belts are far better (lower center of gravity too without all that weight hanging over your head...) I think Mazda did the auto belts to make unsuspecting drivers think that they were about to be decapitated by the belts (I feel like that every time I get in my '91).

Actually I think they did it to keep from having to install air bags (some passive restraint requirement or something).

What color is your interior? If it is blue, stick with blue, if black, how will you replace the "A" pillar trim?

my interior is black but my seats have faded to blue or they orginally blue its hard to tell. I got the pair of s4 a-pillars + interior paint thats black + time and energy = black interior a - pilliars.

Dont know about vert belts in a coupe car, but a buddy of mine bought a coupe belt from me and put it in a vert. I dont see why it wouldnt work the other way around

As long as Mazda keeps fixing them for free for me I'll stay with the auto belts on the turbo. I am curious how you'll mount them in the car, not that familiar with the S4 coupe interior. I do know my Vert belt is always in the way since it never retracts like it's suppose to when you loosen or undo it, guess I should fix that.

Why not just install some race seats and harnesses? They are much more comfortable, but a hassle to put on everytime, but you sure feel safe in them!

^^^Because a harness without a HANS type device is asking for a cranial injury like Earhardt's. Same rational for having full cages in street cars. Not a good idea.

I swapped the FC over to manual and all it took was time, interior paint and about 15 bucks for all the trim panels, belts and hardware from Pull apart.

lol why I picked up a friend monday night and she got out of the car and the belt got stuck after she closed the door in the middle of the rail on the door. haha, then the next morning i opened the door and it worked with no problems. hehe I still swaped them over in about 3hrs.

ha, let me know, like I told you last time, the vert's mounting pointss are lower than the coupes but it should still bolt on.

vert belts are plug and play. Just check out the mounting points for the belts on the S4. I think I mounted them in the wrong hole by accident.. opps!

Why is it a bad idea to have a cage in a street car? :dunno:

IMO, Because when you get in a crash, regardless of the restraint system you will move around. This will allow your head to come into contact with the roll cage and cause head injuries from a cracked skull to worse.

Even in race cars with helmets on the drivers hurt their melons when they smack the cage. Even with the good padding on the bars. Just my thoughts anyways. Not much room in the cars to start with.

Makes sense. I suppose it would depend on the cage also...

^Yeah, wearing a helmet every time you go to the grocery store would get old and you would look stupid as hell sitting in traffic.
