Open is better than shut. (When shut, they load up with carbon, awaiting the next opportunity to dump in the engine and kill an apex seal).

Unfortunately, you will lose so much bottom end that you will have a faster 0-60 time with the ports shut than with them open. Obviously, rotary cars aren't any fun if they run out of power around 5500 rpm, so wiring the ports open is the preferred way (even though the car is slower).

You will make significantly less horsepower with the ports shut, but as I mentioned before, your average torque is enough higher that the shut-port acceleration (0-60) is better.

Fully functional ports are definately preferred (or just go 4-port and get it over with).

Oh my god. This subject has always had a lot of misinformation. I removed the emissions on my s5 na, took out the exhaust sleeves and wired my vdi open and there was hardly any difference at all. I had a full exhaust and an intake and the car ran great. It won't hurt anything and it will be a hell of a lot reliable.

And no, you keep all four of your injectors.

Believe it or not, I actually tested this on my '86 (back when it was a 6-port) and on my '91. The car feels a lot faster with the ports wired open, but it is truly slower (as measured by my G-tech). I didn't believe it at first either, but perceived acceleration can be deceiving.

It might be worth installing an air pump and reconnecting the 5/6 port actuators, it will also help your fuel economy (17 mpg highway wired open vs 23 mpg hwy functioning).

This advice cost you nothing, but it would be a neat project.

I agree!

Same with my GTU.

On another note:
Gas mileage?
My mileage is great, the trick is in tire pressure.:)

i have had mine wired open for while now... and yeah you loose a small bit of bottom end.. not really noticeable to me though.
