Deep Dish Steering Wheel Questions

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I just wanted comments that pertain to a second gen.

I am looking for a new steering wheel. I really like to sit up on the wheel but then my legs hit the bottom of the steering wheel. I have found some deep dish ones that I like.

I am just wondering if anyone has any comments, pro or con on using a deep dish steering wheel? I realize the stock wheel has a pretty good dish to it. Does anyone know how deep the dish is on a stock wheel?

I have seen dishes from 35mm to 95mm. The one by Sparco I like is 95mm. The one by Nardi I like is 65mm. I will also be getting some brand of quick release.

I am just trying to gather information before I buy something. It is not like I can walk into a store and look...

Any comments would be helpful.

I am a huge fan of the Nardi Deep Corn steering wheel in either leather or suede.

It comes in black with red stitch.

It's a pretty deep steering wheel, don't have the numbers on it. It all depends on your driving style.

also you will have the advange of a smaller wheel that will help to.the stock wheel is about 14 or 15 in.

if you dont wanna drop a bunch of money, there are some cheaper deep dishes, or you can just use a spacer. 2" or 3" spacers are common for aftermarket wheels.
i use a gay grant wheel and a 3" spacer. its perfect

I am not really trying to save money...more interested in getting exactly what I want the first time.

Anyway, now that I have re-looked at the stock wheel I think all of the ones I am looking at will be fine.


I would really like to get this Momo wheel but I can't deal with the lettering. If these was all black it would be perfect.

well, you gotta consider seating position... a deep dish PLUS a quick release plus a normal depthe hub can put it pretty far back....

what some people do is get a "shorty hub" which alows simmilar placement of the wheel with a quick release as a normal hub would without it.

I mean by deep dish that a lot of steering wheels are almost flat. That for one puts the back of your fingers almost against the turn sign lever. So, then you have to have a spacer of some sort. Plus it makes me reach out to the wheel. I want the wheel to come to me basically. I don't feel comfortable with my arms stretched out to the wheel. I guess I want the effect of having a telescoping wheel.

Max777 is probably getting to the way I am going to go about it. A deep dish wheel with a shortie hub and a quick release.

Yea, that might be it. Maybe in leather...I don't know, my hands get pretty sweaty. Suede might be nice. I found it in leather and it has a black horn button which I like better.

As long as you install the adapter hub correctly, it'll work fine.

Nardi deep corn too. What you really need to do is sit, and hold each wheel, and see how you like them. I like nardi wheels due to the way they feel and drive.

Unless you are going to wear racing gloves, you don't want a suede wheel either, you want a leather one.

So, now it just comes down to the way the steering wheel looks?

I run an R.E. Amemiya D-cut steering wheel, and I currently use a 50mm + 25mm spacer to fit my seating position.
I'll eventually pick up a Snap-Off detachment system and play with the spacers.

Not sure what you don't get... I did misspeak earlier when I said I was going to get a shortie hub. And yes, I want a deep dish wheel for both function and form.

I had never heard of the Snap-Off system before. I assume you are talking about the Teqnik system?

Now that I have looked at that I am going to research it a little more. I like their street system but that might get old having to use a key to get the wheel off. Maybe just go with the race system..

The wheels in my signature are just like the nardi wheels only they offer them in 2", 3" and 4.125" dish in sized from 10", 12", and 13.5". I ordered the white wheel in 13.5"x4.125" dish.

Personally, I like a steering wheel that sticks out way further than stock.

Okay, you start out by asking about dished steering wheels in your first post...

josh18_2k mentions using spacers...

To which you replied that you don't mind spending money (which doesn't make any sense, cause there are a lot of EXPENSIVE flat steering wheels out there)...

So, basically, you WANT a deep dish steering wheel because of the look and the position, but you are not willing to get a flat steering wheel and just use spacers (which you stated you are against)...?

You're right about not being able to hit the turn signals efficiently with an aftermarket flat steering wheel.
This is why I'm using spacers myself...

So what issues do you all have with switches?? I have a regular momo wheel with JUST the hub on the NA and neither my wife nor I have issues reaching the turn signals or other buttons.

I just don't understand what you mean and how a steering wheel purchase can be so complicated.

It just takes getting used to with the switches, I don't mind it anymore. In fact, when I got back into a stock FC it felt weird. Like I said, I prefer the wheel farther out now as apposed to stock.
