Hi all,
My 88 convertible is bogging down around 3000-4000 rpms. It even boggs down while going uphill on freeways in 4th gear at about 60mph. Here are my options:
1. replace the TPS...throttle position sensor
2. rebuild all injectors as they may be clogged and damaged
Any other thoughts out there? It just seem like the engine is not getting enough gas and it's cutting out/bogging down and unable to accelerate LIKE IT USE TOO. I can't even race around town. When I try to punch the gas, it just boggs down....... I will Lose a race every time.
btw, I've changed the plug (they were old and fouled up)... New plug make it run better.....but still bogs down (not as bad as before).
thanks,

check the following.
1. Cats. Mine where clogged and it has no power
2. secondary injectors. THat is right around where they should be coming on, and if there are issues, the engine will "bog"

This is the best info yet. I'm on "other" forums and they give crappy answers.
The cats are new - about a year old.
I'm going to check the injectors....

....hmm....new cats have me curious. Aftermarket cats are prone to failure in rx7s. Same reason mine were giving me grief. They were pretty new as well, but once i punched them out, car ran tons better.

Ok, listen to this. I had NO cats before....just some pre-silencers. I still have the pre-silencers store away... but I had them removed for 2 reasons:
1. tried to get it to pass smog - going back to stock
2. the fumes with NO cats were soooooo bad it made it sick and dizzy to drive the vert....I couldn't stand it after 4 years of the fumes....
So I paid $$$ to get them back to "stock"....

Doesn't sound like the TPS to me.
Sounds like fuel, when's the last time you've check you're fuel filter?

Usually it's something simple when you're dealing with a car that might not have been drivin that much. Fuel Filter Replacement, Make sure it doesn't have bad gas, Check The Fuel Pump as well, and fuel tank for rust. It happened to mine and I had a rusted out gastank, fucked filter, so it didn't like to idle that well :o

Makes sense bro. This vert is a 2nd or third car. I only drive it a couple times a month.... now I'm trying to drive it more and parking the Dodge truck.

Yeah shit like that happens, a friends 240 was in mint condition and I was riding with him one day and it started sputtering and bogging down before take off and it turns out that it had half a tank of bad gas. Drained the gastank, fuel treatment, and new fuel filter and we were drifting the next day.

Any ideas on how to drain that gas tank easily? I really have to go get a shop manual for that car.

If you check under your gas tank you will find a Nut sticking out sometimes under the rubberized coating where you can drain the gas, just like the oil pan.
Look for it, make sure you are in a well ventilated area, even if outdoors you would like to check around you before doing something like this. Remember, gas is very explosive!
Do not do it in your garage because most homes have water heaters with a pilot flame!
Let the fumes build up and you will have an explosion of fireballs and quite possibly kill yourself. If you must shut off the gas to any appliances and also do not use any electrical devices, my rule for jobs like this is always outdoors and use a very strong fan to blow the fumes away.
Get under the car and get ready, make sure you use most of the fuel but if you must remember to have a container large enough to catch all the gas.
Drain!
OR
you could just take the fuel pump out from the top and replace the filter and pump.
