its pretty straight forward. I did mine about a month ago, but i have no write up of it or pictures.

BUT i can give you a low-down on what you will need.

1. You will need to buy a set of block off plates for your particular setup. Go on ebay or talk to Kevin (rotaryresurrection)

2. You will need some vacuum lines, coolant line and 5/16" fuel line and related clamps.

depending what state u are in check your ordinance and make sure u wont have to qualify for a emission test.

egr removal, ACVC removal, rats nest removal, a little vac line and some coolant hose easy enough..

go to the above link and Kevins writeup is very nicely done!

there are many places to buy the block off plates..

Myself (Spooled up Racing)
Dan Atkins (Atkins Rotary)
others.

it's pretty easy. I know that Kevin wanted to redo his website and make a better write up, but I'm acutally trying to get a write up on this going as well as an article for RCC digizine...

dont hold your breath through, it might be a few months into the winter!

I know that when you do emissions removal, you want to send your injectors out, which is about $80 at either witchhunter or KG parts

Then you need about 10 feet of fuel line, I got 10ft, and replaced ALLL my soft hoses, including the ones in the back by the fuel tank, and I still got about 3 feet left! :D
(doing the rear ones is a bitch btw, it involves lowering the swaybar so you can get to the clamps, and etc)

I would also get a new fuel filter, and do the banjo bolt mod NOW since it's an S4 and you dont want it to catch on fire. (you use a banjo bolt to replace a "fuel pulsation damper" which often goes bad, and gives you an engine fire, is expensive to replace, and the car runs fine w/o it on.

Then, I would get an S4 oil metering pump rebuild kit or block it off if you dont mind putting 2 stroke oil in the tank.

5/32 vaccum hose, you can get a 50ft spool of it on ebay, for CHEAP! Also get an assortment of vaccum nipples a 5 way vaccum splitter(for the oil injectors) a vaccum T or two, as well as a few more 5/32 caps cause you will run out of those. :)

umm... what else... you could give your intake manifolds a bath in the hot tank as well to remove any extra crap in there... I got that done at a carquest, they had a machince shop in the back.

I will add anything else I can think of.

I just did all this shit in the midst of putting another engine in my car.

Lol, oh yeah, that too! I was actually going to wait until I could get the dual pulley to replace my alternator belt, but it went, so I had to settle for just a single.

PS: You need to buy TWO new belts of the same size when you run a dual pulley, even if your old single belt is fine, you still have to replace it so they tenstion properly.

Just so i know EVERYTHING Max SUGGESTED is only that... you dont HAVE to do all of that to remove the emissions..

I did about 90% of that but it is all because I wanted to. you don't have to do all of that

Yeah, I just thought I'd point out a few things you can get done while you're in there, and yes, a lot of IS optional.

Yeah dont get me wrong alot of that is deff stuff I did and recommend to do but I dont want him to get discouraged due to everything else listed...

Those are just things u could do..

I also think the banjo bolt mod is a MUST..

Ok so I did a lil research and I don't think Alabama has any emission laws (someone chime in if I'm wrong). So which are the absolute musts to take off? I know that I can't remove air pump since the car will not operate properly with it being NA and all. I have already removed cats, but thats about it.

Your NA is an S4 right? Then your 6 port is actuated by back pressure from the exhaust, so you can remove the airpump.

Ah cool! That should shed a few pounds.

exactly on S4 n/a u can remove the air pump (just get a couble alt pulley so u can run two belts

remove:
egr valve
acv
rats nest
bac valve (or I did atleast)
cats (u said already done)
remove the pulsation dampner and do the banjo bolt mod

check your omp tubes and make sure they are good or remove and block off the omp
and premix

make sure u have intake gaskets on hand (Mazda, myself or Atkins can help u with those)

get some vac hose (good time to replace all vac hoses to silicone) ebay or myself can help with that.

could be more but those are a good start.

Cool that doesn't sound too bad at all. I thought it would be alot more to it.

I passed Arizona emissions testing with a full emissions removal on my S5 NA. The only thing I left on the car was the charcoal canister, I think it serves a purpose, lol. I also got the car to pass with a blown motor, haha. :D.

Removing the emissions stuff is pretty useful, it cleans up the engine bay, makes things easier to work on, more accessible, and it fixes your idle :P.

Do replace your fuel hoses and vacuum lines though. You'll thank yourself later.
