I finally got me a FC, picked up a good condition 86 N/A a couple weeks ago. The thing runs fine except for a few small probs, most of which Im in the process of fixing myself. One big thing which I have no idea how to fix is electrical stuffs. The biggest thing Ive seen so far is my volt meter only works about half of the time, and sometimes if I try to drive it before its warmed up a bit it will stall out when shifting gears, and when I restart it the tach wont work. Does anyone know what could be causing this, or is it going to be a case of hunt down the associated wires and inspect them?

That's pretty common, it's the actually cluster parts. You could go to teh junkyard and get another cluster and try swapping some individual gauges out to see if you can obtain some taht work correctly.

My volt gauge has never worked right. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's accurate and your power is cutting out.
The tach is run off the trailing coils. If the tach isn't moving, then the trailing coils aren't firing.
As for the dying when shifting, it probably has some vacuum leaks or other idle issues that are being masked by the BAC. Unplug the BAC and see what happens at idle.

Don't worry about the dead tach...
It's a common "problem" with you keep killing the engine.
(I suspect it's a glitch in the stock ECU programming.)
If it really bugs you, just kill the engine and restart, and that should reset the tach the majority of the times.

Yeah it wasnt anything I was majorly worried about as long as there wasnt a deeper issue at hand. Plus this isnt my 1st 5speed car so the tach isnt really a necesity.
