I want to attempt to port my 6 port motor, I need to kno wats the biggest street port I can go for secondary and primary ports with the best results. Pics would be helpful. Thank you

the secondary ports you cant really port a whole lot since the port timing on the closing is already stupid late on them. The primary port you can go fairly large pineapple racing makes about the biggest 6 port template I would do to actually be able to drive it.

How about turning the 6 ports into 4 ports by cutting threw the little space between the ports and making it larger??. Has anybody done this before? And would there be better results and more power by doing this?? Thank you

I have seen pics of what you are asking, but I know nothing of the end results of such a port job.

don't do it unless you have a 12k rpm engine, racing gear box, etc.....

that would be way way too much unless you are boosting the piss out of it and then it will be nothing more than a purpose built drag engine.

I for one do believe in the 6-port engine. One reason is that most everyone doesn't believe that they are capable of more power.
Although I don't have many 6-port engine experiences I do have a few.

My first one was a S5 6-port with a "Mild street port" that was built by a builder in my state.
This motor sucked. Even with the few mods I had on it: RB pre-silencer and mufflers, emissions removed, AC removed, k&n air filter. It dynoed at only 130hp.
After 5 years of driving it I tore it apart to see what was done to it. This is what I found:

The center iron was ported like this:

My second motor I swear by. I built it and ported it.
Although this motor is a half bridge port S4. Mods were where the previous motor left off, but with the addition of power-steering removed, and a Clutch Masters stage 2 Carbon Kevlar clutch. Also, stock ecu, stock transmission, etc.

The center iron was stock.
Most of the performance I'm about to go over is probably because of the bridge ports.
This motor would spin the top of 1st, chirp 2nd.
It reved fast.
Power was felt from 4k to 6.5k rpms. When in that range, it hauled ass.
The drawbacks were no guts below 3k rpms, and it was a gas guzzler.

My 3rd motor is what I have in my FC currently. (Using the 1st engine I mentioned) end irons and a stock port center iron. S4 rotors. With the addition of a haltech E6K.
I believe it has more power than my first motor. Better gas mileage too.
I really should get this dynoed.


Just my 2 cents from my experiences.

Ditch the 6 port and look for TII 4 port irons. Boosted or N/A they yield better results. I personally prefer S4 TII irons since the primary and secondary port timing is identical.
