my FB is currently on 16x8 but i feel as though its a bit tall. Would something like a 15x8 or 15x9 be better? sit lower to the ground and have better use of my gearing?

ideally?
1st choose your tire
2nd choose your wheel to match tire
so figure out what tire you want to run, check the sizes available. gearing and all that has zero to do with wheel diameter. tire is what matters. if 16 has the size you want, use 16" wheels. if 15 has better sizes, use 15's. its not rocket surgery

thats probably a good idea so i dont go getting myself a wheel with no tire options. AS far as gearing goes, if i run a shorter overall tire, then the gearing is changed. The 16s i have now run a 225/45 tire and that worked out to be just a wee bit taller than a stock GSLSE overall diameter.

dont even worry about stock tire diameter, its totally irrelevant. figure out what tire you want to run, then go from there.
if you need it, there are gearing calculators online somewhere to show you speed in each gear at whatever rpm and all that. if you just want a short tire, then find the shortest/widest tire you can and go from there. most likely gonna find better sizes in 15" (16's really arent popular for anything other than bias ply slicks)

i took your advise and found a tire size that i think should work out well since there are several options in said size and ill just match the wheel to that.
