Alright 88 s4 turbo. The temp sensor on the t-stat neck. Mine is there trouble is the wire broke and I want to reconnect it and I don't know where it's supposed to go to. Pics would be awesome.

Come on guys, im tryin to get this thing back on the road by the weekend, i also need to know where the vac line from the BOV, and the pressure sensor goes on the motor i think i got it backwards. I want all this straight before i try to start it after like 3 months lol

Just for you, I went out in the cold to take this picture :P

I have my BOV, boost gauge, and MAP sensor all tied to that one nipple on the UIM. Works great. Just MAKE DAMN SURE you have a restrictor pill before the MAP sensor, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to have one before the BOV. One for the boost gauge isn't NEEDED, but you can do that, too. Just in case I would recommend a separate pill for each thing, using the stock restrictor pill for the MAP sensor, as that was its original intent. I stuck a piece of a vacuum connector in the line for my BOV, and I don't remember if I used one for my boost gauge. Doesn't hurt anything either way with the gauge. Damn, now my hands smell like rubber.

Oh crap I forgot you wanted the wire, too... Look for a loose wire under the IC somewhere, you might have to pull it off. There's a wire loom running behind the alt for all sorts of stuff like that temp sensor, the alternator, solenoids... If you have part of the wire on the plug end you can match it, and hopefully there aren't too many loose wires floating around. If there are you have other issues you need to address.

I believe that wire is only for the electric fan?
It's a thermoswitch and not a true thermosensor.

Stock wise...
The stock boost sensor goes to a fitting on the ACV valve.
The stock BOV goes to a fitting on the flange on the upper intake manifold that mates with the lower intake manifold - this fitting is hard to see, cause it's under the stock BAC valve.

If you blocked off your ACV, then you just lost one of the fittings.

Nothing is blocked on mine, its all there, so what fan exactly does this go to? Still unfamiliar with all the extra crap on turbo cars, im used to n/a lol, and thanks for the pics guys! So what exactly does the acv do? could i theoretically cap off the vac lines on and to it, unplug it and use it as the block off plate, cause i dont have an air pump as of right now.

You could make your own blockoff plate if you want to be cheap about it. I'd just remove the ACV if you don't plan on reinstalling the air pump because I think it exists only to direct the air pump's output. It was also one of the very first things I pulled off my car because I didn't want/need it and I don't recall all the details.

Okay since I'm lacking an air pump and don't have any metal at the moment to make a plate, if I just unplug the power to the acv but leave all the vac lines on it will the pressure sensor still get a correct reading? Not gonna leave it like that just temp till next paycheck or I get a hold of another street sign for scrap metal lol

I would use a different vac nipple for the MAP sensor that you know gets the true after TB reading. But then that nipple on the ACV might do just that. There might be a hole that goes straight from the UIM through the ACV to the nipple. You could check for that by pulling it off and inspecting.

Okay, next issue lol what goes on this this vac nipple? from what i have read it also goes to the acv, but i cant find anymore nipples on the acv.

And i just found this lol, its the wires to the acv, it was all wrapped in electric tape.

It's just that little bit and I'm gonna get a block of plate made or bought next paycheck but until then.... WHERES THAT VAC NIPPLE GO! Lol 1 day left till weekend I'm sill shootin for my same goal

Wait, my old exhaust manifold had that flapper thing, (twin scroll?) anyways my new one doesnt have it, is that the vac source for it? i cant remember.

Well... would you rather it had blown instead? lol At least a water pump is easy and relatively cheap on these :D

Fuck that, if this were my car I'd have the whole harness out, stripped back, and all the uneccesary wires removed and all the others inspected. Little shit like that leads to BIG problems in the future.

Yup, easiest waterpump I can think of on any car that I've ever worked on. If you're doing the wp though, replace the housing/iron seal as well. Chances are good that the seal will break when you pull the WP.

I dont want to start a new thread for this guys, i have a vac leak almost 100 percent, and have no idea where its at except that its the other end of wherever this vac nipple is connected to. Someone has to know, or can go look and snap a pic for me.

come on people i know all about block off plates and removal. so i take the acv off and cap the lines. now i still have the same problem because that line doest even go to the acv and the other end will still be leaking. will someone please just tell me where the line that goes on that nipple goes so i can go block it. im broke as hell work at a grocery store and go to college. i cant afford block off plates right now. cant someone just tell me where it goes i didnt think it would be this hard to get an answer.

Look around your engine for open sources. Check your EGR, your twin scroll solenoid, your vacuum solenoid rack...

Rx-7fetish
02-16-2010, 02:03 AM
I don't have the twin scroll anymore but the lines to that are capped off already. I have looked and looked but can't find it that's why I asked. I understand those of you who have removed your emissions don't remember and can't go look lol but someone somewhere on this forum has to have there stock emissions intact still.

This is a simple option, especially if you have a compressor:
http://www.boostpro.net/prodtester.html

I got a gauged single pop with the male compressor adapter. No, it's not free, but believe me it's worth $25.

I build boost just fine but my idle sucks. Don't worry about it guys I'll figure it out myself. I'll have to wait till summer to go to the car shows and look at someone elses car.

Boost leaks are usually also vacuum leaks. Idle can suffer greatly from small leaks that you wouldn't notice under boost. They call it a boost leak tester, and yes it allows you to check for leaks by pressurizing the intake, but like I said, boost leaks are usually vacuum leaks as well. But if you want to wait until summer be my guest.
