Well, it's a good thing that it failed in the up position and not in the down position, that would suck.
I dont know how to fix your problem, but it it turns out to be the motors, I have two that worked perfectly when I removed them from my car. (I am doing a custom roll bar setup and i need the space) I would be willing to let them go for cheap btw, so make me an offer!
