ok so i found a pic of what my trashed FD had. As you can see the top is mounted correctly and so is the bottom at the fire wall. now i took mine out of my current FD and tried to line it up with this stripped FD shell that as you can see had a pedal mounted correctly and it will not mount correctly in this one either???? WTF it dosent look bent or anything so anybody got any ideas???

z

OK so i took some measurements and obviously the pedal is too short but WHY????? From to the firewall to the top mount stud is around 9.5" but my pedal is about 8.X" take look at these

and heres the clutch pedal in question.

Now the only thing i can think is the top bracket was out of alignment when spot welded and some how made it through into the car????? WTF so it looks like to fix it i will have to drill out the spot welds realign it at the correct length and then tig it back together.

another thing that i should state is the only difference between these two cars im testing this off of is the black one is a 94 and the montego blue is a 93.

The parts numbers are the same in the '93 and '94 parts fiche. In this picture, it looks like there is a hole behind the stud. Could you move the stud back to the hole behind it?

there is a hole there but its offset and only goes through the first layer of sheet metal and is offset by about an inch if i remember right. that could be an option but id rather cut and reweld the clutch bracket correctly as you can see in the pic the top mount point isnt even flush its angled upwards.

hey if anyone with a 94+ could take a picture of theres we could compare but by the measurments between a 93 and a 94 they are the same.

Fixed!! not pretty but fixed. i had to drill out the spot welds holding the bracket in place, reposition it and weld it back together. i also had to redrill holes and make holders for the spring retainers so it keeps the same spring pressure and pedal feel.

crap welds

spring tabs

Can't see the welds, who cares....looks like they're strong enough. If it works, good to ya.

Default clutch Pedal

This is interesting. Mine is all apart so I will check mine and see what the length is. Although mine is a 93 as well.

Default Clutch Pedal

Checked the length of my pedal and it is indeed longer than 9 inches. The end closest to the driver meets the noise/shield material and does not have that big washer.
