Default April 2013 Rotary Of The Month

April is our admin choice rotary of the month and goes to vincentrx7 -Bobby Poage and his 3 rotor FD. He recently participated in the 2013 Modified Magazine Street Car Shootout- Phoenix, AZ

Congratulations for being our Ride of the Month! Tell us about how you acquired your Rotary?

I always dreamed of owning a 3rd gen and back in 2005, my nephew told me I could pick up one at an affordable price. I bought this 1 owner, 57k mile car all stock car (except a CB) from a guy in Virginia. The only mod I planned to do was a turbo timer.

How did you first become interested in rotary cars? Have you had any previously?
While in college, I bought a blue 1st gen and fell in love with the smooth power. I put on sway bars and a header. I put 225k miles on the car.

Whats the biggest reason you chose a rotary powered car to modify?
I just loved the look of the 3rd gen. I chose the 20b because I wanted to make 500+whp at low boost to have a more reliable, drivable car.

Do you participate in any form of racing?
I like all the sport car events. I won 2 Import Face-offs and 1 Import Showdown. My best 1/4 mile time is a 10.7 @ 136mph. I've competed in several autocrosses. I've tracked my car many times in Ohio, Pennsylvannia, and Alabama. I've taken my car to TX2K12 and recently went the the Modified Magazine Street Car Shootout in Pheonix AZ. My car was part of the cover photo shoot at the Shootout. This year will be my 5th year at DGRR - Deals Gap Rotary Rally.

What do you enjoy most about your car?
That it is a 10 sec car that is competitive at the auto-X and road course. I can also drive it to work or to an event 3 hours away. It made 635whp with a Catalytic converter at the Shootout on 93 octane. Also, it turns alot of heads driving down the road. It is a car I can drive.

Do you have any future plans for the car, or any car?
I'd like to do a little more suspension work, and convert it to E85 . I'll probably put a T56 tranny in it at some point.

Any other hobbies besides cars?
Other hobbies are Hunting and Fishing.

I'd like to thannk my Brother, Tim for all the help and support he gives me with my car. Zavier at ZN Performance built the engine and has always been just a phone call away for help. I'd also like to thank the Rotary Community for the support they gave me on my trip to the Modified Magazine Shootout. The Rotary Community is AWESOME! I'd also like to thank Kevin Henderson and Phil Sohn for the work they put into making the Rotary Community so strong!
