Default Job Market in New Zealand

My wife and I have been considering a move to New Zealand. We have a 13 month old daughter and my wife is a physical therapist and I work in the I.T. field.

i'd like some opinions of what you guys think of Americans moving to New Zealand as well as the state of the current economy and schools there.

I have done some reading but have yet to actually speak to anyone there.

Thanks

Kenny Pullen

Really?? New Zealand??

I don't know much but a friend of mind did his internship in New Zealand. He really liked it! He was getting his MBA and did his internship with some pharmaceutical company.

I have a co worker who's now looking for postdoc position in New Zealand and Australia. I'll ask him about it also..

I personally think it'll be cool! Me and my wife considered Dubai. Harvard has some position that my wife might be able to get and it paid crazy money!! But because of recent economical issues, not sure it will be viable in next 2 years.

It's just an idea at the moment but I thought it would be good to have some input from people that live there.

NZ is fairly sleepy, especially compared to the US.

Considered Australia? More New Zealanders here than there are in New Zealand (I kid).

Better job opportunities here too.

Lived in NZ most of my life, now in US. You should look on the NZ embassy website to see what proffesions they are looking for in immigrants. The way I see it the cost of living is more in NZ, the wages are lower, and it is a beautiful country. I would move back but I now have US family obligations which complicates things. Oh and the schools are first class.
