2011, February Rotary Of the Month
Congrats to RcFx8Mel on her Feb 2011 ROTM win!
Engine: Stock Renni Exhaust: Exoticspeed catback with titanium rotor shaped tips Clutch: New Exedy Clutch Wheels: XXR 006 18x8.5 in the front 18x9.5 in the rear Blox aluminum open ended blue lug nuts Electronics: Others: Body: MazdaSpeed front bumper HID fog lights Interior: carbon fiber accent pieces Gunmetal gray interior pieces Blue stitching on shift boot Performance/Power: Tein s techs lowering springs Agency power sway bars front and rear Blox strut bars front and rear Q: Congratulations for winning Ride of the Month! Tell us about how you acquired this car? Well I was sort of in need of a new car anyways but it was also a college graduation present. Q: Favorite stretch of road to drive your car on (location)? Deals Gap.... hands down my favorite road so far! Q: Whats the biggest reason you chose a rotary powered car to modify? My dad has worked on rotaries my entire life and the first car I ever drove was my dad's FB when I was like 14 just before he sold it. So I've pretty much been raised on rotaries. Since I've helped my dad build rotary motors I actually understand how they work, which I don't with most others, so I think that makes driving them more fun. Q: What are the future plans on this car? Nothing too big, I just plan on auto crossing it so most of the suspension stuff that I wanted I've got already, most of the rest is just cosmetic stuff. Carbon fiber hood will probably come next along with a few other carbon fiber accent pieces and a lightweight flywheel... that's all I'm planning on for now but the list always keeps growing. Q: What was the worst and best memory of this project? Best is definitely driving it at the gap. Worst is probably the 3 or 4 times it's left me stranded with miscellaneous problems. Q: Any other hobbies besides cars? Photography whenever I have time and that's about it these days. Q: Anyone you'd like to thank? Well I'd be in trouble if I didn't thank my parents for the car and my dad for the endless hours he's helped me work on it as well as my boyfriend and several friends who have helped me work on it. Q: Anything in the pipeline for another ROTM win? Haha well if I ever get time to work on it I've got a 1st gen that's going to get a s5 motor I've already built and will be turboed at some point. Should be a fun car once it's all done, just needs A LOT of work.
