Ask Me About My WANKEL!!!

5.7 lm7 rx7 or rx6.0l
ok so basically i have my car ready to recieve engine, and my trans bought th400. I just cant decide what engine, im looking for 400-450 whp na plus spray.
I can get a lm7 that needs rebuilt for free, or a high mileage running LQ4 for 600 bucks. Basically which one will be cheaper to build for my hp goal, im on a budget (daughter on the way budget).. also might want to make slightly more power later (this is in a 2300lb car so prolly never anymore then around 550 whp)

lm7 is a 5.3. if power is your goal go with the bigger displacement lq4. even with that, they only make like 325 hp stock(and thats brand new condition). you are gonna have to spend some coin to make those WHP goals

Yeah the LQ4 is your better bet being the bigger cubic inch, just punch it, stroke it and slap some ported OEM heads and an aggressive cam and you will be at 590hp on the motor easy. But dgregg is right....it takes a lot of cash to make that kind of N/A power to the wheels out of a 5.7L let alone a 5.3. Hell my LS1 would take another 3k(includes tuning and what not) to get to 500rwhp and I am making 425rwhp right now.
500 is doable but very expensive and has to be spec'ed right or else the motor wont hold up long. Now going Forced Induction is a whole other story. Boost makes these motors smile...so does spray

Here is a guy with a LQ9 in his C5 vette. Those PRC heads are garbage too, if you went with AFR's you would make more power
