basic weber/similar questions...
Can i use weber parts with delorto or mikunis? as far as tuning parts? i keep finding delortos and mikunis for decent prices but dont know if they can be tuned due to lack of parts availability....? is weber the only way to go these days?
can you modify a side draft to be a down draft? dont laugh... i really dont know. would running twin 40mm side drafts on an extremely short manifold (2" or so) be a bad idea??? this is for an all motor 1/4 mile car. and although i have had weber and holleys on a few cars. i mainly deal with fuel injection everyday. but im trying the weber way for now.

No, Weber jets don't work in Dellortos. I don't know about Mikunis. I know you can use Weber jets in OERs, though. OERs are also cool because they have externally-adjustable float level and accelerator pump, and they're boost-prepped from the factory. If I were to buy a new sidedraft today, it'd probably be an OER.
Nope, can't mod a sidedraft to be a downdraft. The float bowl would be in the wrong position. You could use it as a downdraft EFI throttle body, though. The bolt pattern and bore spacing are different, too, so it'd have to be a custom manifold. No, twin 40s sounds like a great idea to me. On eBay recently there was a twin IDF manifold for a 4-port 13B. I wanted it so badly. What kind of ports are you going to be running? If peripheral ports, one of the big Gene Berg IDAs would probably be your best bet. For side ports, might I suggest twin 45mm OERs/DCOEs? This is assuming you can make your own intake manifolds, of course.

Thanks for the tips!
yes, i can make my own intake manifold and i will be doing that. Are the OER's hard to come by? I just looked on eBay right now and found none. This will be a non-PP motor.

I don't know, it looks like they may be out of production now. Check with RotaryShack, I know they used to carry them.
