Vortec V6
I put a 97 4.3 liter V6 vortec and auto trans in my 89 convertible. A relatively easy, but time consuming swap, except it took a year to get the computer wired correctly. I kept the AC comp, power steering pump and alternator from the chevy. Had to move the compressor a few inches to get the hood to close. Also cut a hole in the hood and install a fake air scoop to get clearance above the throttle body air intake. I love the low end torque. The non-turbo rotary had an auto tranny and was a dog off the line. will be glad to give more info if anyone wants.

The quest for more torque
|
I have seen this done before, A nice clean swap, the 4.3 can look very nice in an RX7. I think the Vortec 4.3 made 260 lb-ft of torque which is a significant step up from the 200 lb-ft that my NA rotary makes.
What kind of fuel mileage do you get?
