need help choosing tire size
for a 16x8 wheel, been looking for tires and frankly, not finding my options..
215/40R16 or 225/45R16 or 205/40R16? not really much else to choose from... Any of these optimal? I want a tire i can drive on as a daily, about 300 treadwear. The BFG T/A KDW fits the bill. But i am still limited in my options quite a bit. Or should I just fork out for 15" wheels?

Yokohama has their S Drives in a 205/45 16 at $93.00 apiece on Tire Rack, as well a few other sizes in 16 inch.

Sigh.....

I've been running Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 and loving them. They were inexpensive (waited for a sale), have 320 treadwear, and stick really well. I recently took them to Road Atlanta and they performed well and I didn't have any fade on them (although I wasn't pushing it as hard as others would). For a 320 treadwear tire, I think they're an excellent choice. They'll never grip as much as a ~140 treadwear, but I'm happy with them.

what about a 195/55R15 or 205/50R15 for an 8" wheel. seem like there are more options.

The 195 on an 8" wheel is a stretch (literally)... optimal tire for that width is 225 or 245... the 205 would probably be "ok" if you're into that stretched tire look/characteristic.
15s do open your choices a lot though. |
