2009 PAX/RTP numbers
The new numbers are out. See them, and all the associated lunacy here:
http://www.scca-chicago.com/solo/indexes/rtp2009.html One of the sillier items, CSP is now theoretically faster than BSP. CSP gets all the N/A RX7's (SA/FB as well as FC) and all Miata's except the MazdaSpeed version, while BSP gets the TII FC and the MS Miata. That's right, SCCA thinks a 101hp 12A FB is faster than 13BT FC, and a non turbo Miata is faster than a factory turbo version. CSP 0.862 BSP 0.859 For those that are not familiar with the PAX index, you multiply your actual time by the PAX index, to get your "Theoretical" time. 60 seconds X 0.862 = 51.72 (CSP) 60 seconds X 0.859 = 51.54 (BSP) Using these numbers, a CSP car would need to be 0.4% faster than a BSP car, just to reach a tie. |

im guessing its because the CSP miatas are destroying everything, to include MS miatas (they do weigh a bit more..)
maybe they should have just stuck all miatas up in BSP. with the S2k's. leave us rx7's alone! :-(

I dunno what would be the best way to resolve this issue, but saying non turbo RX7's and Miata's are faster than turbo RX7's and Miata's is just plain silly.
Of course, the RX8 benefits from another brain-fart. It somehow got placed in DSP, when BSP would be a much better fit. Given that the RX8 is pretty potent in BS, just think how dominant it could be in DSP..... |

I got an idea. Lets stick all the Miata's and Soltice/Sky's into a new class GSP. Girly car Street Prepared. That would leave CSP pretty much open to the N/A Rotaries, which are classed there, but seldom bother to show up, since Miata's are top dog in the class.
It seems almost inevitable that a Miata will always win CSP, since nearly every car to turn out for the class is a Miata, as far as Nationals goes. |
