Default AccessPORT Discussion Thread

I wanted to have a place for people to voice questions/opinions/observations about the Cobb AccessPORT for the RX-8.
So, here it is!
I'll add content as I go along.

I'm finding my way into the rx8 community, and I was elated to hear that cobb put out an access port for the rx8. It had huge simple gains for the wrx, and now the rx8! I've heard that I should buy the access port from since I could get a series of maps based on what mods are done to the car. How do you go about creating all of the maps for all of the combinations? I can not imagine the man time it would take to do even the common variations.

I think Mazdamaniac is the only source for these maps too.

I've got a library of about 900 calibrations.
Still, once I send you a set with your AccessPORT, it still takes a little tweaking (which I do for the customer) before it perfect most of the time.
Its a pretty painless process for the purchaser, but it did take a LOT of man-hours.
And, yes, I am the only way to get those calibrations.

So is it available for the 08 yet? I know your webpage says coming soon on the 08. I saw also that it mentions clearing emissions cel. Is this to say if I purchased a midpipe, lets say, and then ordered the accessport the calibration for it would take into account the midpipe and prevent the CEL? I'm still toying with the idea if I would like to turbo the 8 or not but it seems the accessport would have some benifits even on a NA application.

Also what exactly happens with a dealer reflash. Will it wipe the Accessports flash then you just end up doing the setup again when you get back home?

I've read that the dealer will be unable to flash it with the accessport flash on it, you would need to return it to stock, before going to the dealer.

I've been running the accessport for about a week now and it's been fantastic. When the weather cools off I'll be able to get some dyno time and have some before/after results to post showing the capability of the device on an N/A setup.

Till then, I highly suggest investing in this device as it will increase the life of your motor as well as make the car more enjoyable to drive.

I have the Acessport on my STi and its a great product, the gains were large and the powerband is alot more constant right out of the box with the cobb maps. I wish I had found a deal like the one here though as a cusom map would be nice without paying the price for tunning. They do software updates pretty regularly that are easy to install. Also yes you can get rid of CEL with midpipe and your car will pass emissions too if you need to.
