I would check out ebay. I have a bell and a shoei. They both work great, although I think the bell is just a little more comfortable. As far as lower profile ones for head clearence, I have no idea.

www.saferacer.com I have the G-Force Pro 1, it's Snell 2005 and SFI rated. I love it, even for autocrosses.

Honestly you really need to find somewhere to try them on if you want one that is comfortable and fits right. I spent probably an hour at the track one day trying different ones on. It's really amazing how much different they fit from brand to brand.

I buy off OGRacing.
M and SA designations are different. M is concerned with impact only. SA is impact + fire resistance, something bikers don't usually have to worry about. I have the G-Force Pro 1, I think it's a great deal, but it is slightly on the heavy side. Though the lighter helmets are much more expensive. G-Force Pro 1 would work well for anyone's first helmet. I matched mine up with a tinted blue visor for $40 more. |

should I mention I will only be going in a strait line! Does that make a differance? These ZAMPS on JEGS seem cheap?? I dont mind cheap but I want one to fit nice and not look like shit. I am not sure if most drag racers (street) class wear half or full, I was thinking half...

No, these are NOT the same as motorcycle helmets. DOT rated helmets have nowhere near the impact resistance of Snell/SFI rated helmets.
If you're buying for drag racing, current rules require a Snell M2000 or SA2000 or better (M2005 and SA2005 are the newest) helmet. Full face is not required, but you stand a very good chance of whacking your chin/face on the steering wheel in a drag race wreck, so the full-face is a much better option. Full face is required for most HDPE/Road Course events.

I use the G-Force as well. It has plenty of headroom in my non-sunroof'd RX8 and I'm 5'10. My buddy's 8 has a sunroof and he is slightly taller, but the helmet still fits well enough for auto-x... they are fairly priced.
