Default Looking for economical code scanner - ODBII and Mazda - Autel MS-300

Looking for something cheap to scan codes for both OBDII and Mazda codes...

I came across the Autel MS-300 on Amazon for $15.99.
http://www.amazon.com/Autel-MaxiScan.../dp/B001LHVOVK

Can this pull all the Mazda codes too?

I don't want to deal with all the "in developement" packages out there, and most of them start around $200.
I need this NOW, so I need a reliable package that I don't want to dump too much money into it.

I have a customer that has a 2004 model...
This is my first time dealing with these things, so I don't have the normal tools to take care of diagnostics.
I don't know if I'm going to keep working them, so that's why I don't want to invest too much into specialty tools for them.

Do you have an example of some of the Mazda specific codes?

Personally when I had my 8, I used a generic ELM327 (tiny clear blue plastic) OBDII dongle *<$10* and my phone using an app such as torque *free or $5* (along with torquescan plugin *free*) to read codes. Torquescan lists everything the OBD reader can see.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...owl.torquescan

It worked well enough for general diagnostic work (MAF values, temps, etc) and code clearing, even ran it on the dash for an HPDE or two. Not sure how deep you need to go :/

Does Advance/O'reilly's/Autozone/ rent them or let you use for free on the island?

Used them before to get the code fix it and clear it.

I have a couple of these. The app is free to download. Allows you to read and delete any code. It even looks up the code and give you a definition.
It also lets you read every parameter of the ecu as its running, log, save, and view as gauges.
I have used it on the wifes rx8 many times http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?n...372933&alt=web
