20B/FD build
Hey guys got bored with my 13b so I decided to grow a pair and get a 20b. Picked up the motor from Osaka Jdm motors in Canada. Motor barely had 50k on it. Contacted Jon @ Goopy Performance. (best decision I ever made) and brought him the motor and let him do his thing. I must take a moment to point out that Jon is an absolute class act. Jon is a absolute great guy he is very very knowledgeable and very straightforward. No bs and candycoating. It was a pleasure and very refreshing speaking with and learning gobs of information from someone so learnid. So anywho, heres the beginning of my build thread. Heres some pics of the motor when I got it and torn down @Goopy Performance being fitted for dowels!

Assembled engine
Heres some pics of the motor assembled. All thanks to Jon @ Goopy Performance. Standard rebuild for the street. Not looking to go over 750rwhp in the near future so nothing to crazy as far as porting goes. Built more for reliability/longetivity
Goopy performance Apex Seals. FD Oil Pressure Reg. Lower side 1pc solid dowel 4 1/2" studs installed Machined/clearanced rotors S4 waterpump/housing.. normally pretty standard however the housing had to be modified to clear the studs.(Ill post pics of the modified housing later.) Everything else was pretty standard oem. I am extremely satisified with the quality of the motor build |

update: 2/13
Update 2/13: All necesary parts have been sent to Defined Autoworks for their 20B Base conversion kit as well as having them set up my manifold/dp for the build. Logan is a good guy. Straightforward no bs.
I ordered up a Borg Warner S475 with a 1.25 A/R from Mikes Turbo In Florida. as well as picked up a big ass Tial V60 to keep boost under control. Was looking for some feedback from guys running 20bs about running 2 bov's one on each side of the charge piping. Ive been told that it would be beneficial with the amount of air im going to be moving... Or is this just overkill? Will have some more pics up soon! |

It won't hurt to have too much BOV, but I have to disagree with having none at all...
BOV's are to minimize compressor surge. Unless your turbo can eliminate damage from compressor surge, then a BOV is needed. I see no problem running two BOV's... -Ted |
