This is the #60 ROAR Racing Mazda RX-8 they let us use for the Mazda Days show pulling into the Gallery Friday afternoon.
I spent Friday afternoon cleaning it up for the event. This is what happens when one of the drivers says #61 has a misfire during practice Saturday morning. You spend lunch pulling the engine from the #60... and putting in in the #61. Took a little over an hour to completely swap engines. This is what happens to #61 when a deer runs out on the track at night in the middle of the race... you spin out and then chase the deer down the tire wall before coming to the pits where you just rip the nose off and continue the race. #63 had it's own problems starting with when a car in front of it blew it's oil cooler causing it to spin out and then the lights decided to stop working. Straight wired them to finish the race... except for the last couple of laps which he drove in the dark when the fuse finally blew. Meanwhile, poor old #60... spent the afternoon and evening sitting here instead of The Gallery.

Anyway... the rest of my pics (and some half ass camera videos) can be found here!
Was a great weekend, the weather was awesome. Lots of action all around. Drifting, go karts, VIR race simulation, two 6 hour KONI Series races, GT LIVE girls... If i recall correctly there was 1 1979 1st Gen, 10 2nd Gens (2 Verts, 2 GTU, 2 10th Anniversary, 3 Turbo II and 1 whatever Johny uses for his track car), 4 3rd Gens and 6 FEs. There were some other Mazdas there also... heh.

Just came across this, and it does bring back memories. Nice facilities and it was nice seeing all those Mazda's. We ran on the Patriot course (Street Tire Class) in the Redline Time Attack and it was nice to be able to walk over to the Mazda Lodge.
