Ahh yes...people say we all look alike but thats BS we can tell the difference. Theres not many Hmong here in Nashville they mostly live up north in the cold, but there are tons of Laotians around here. I plan on watching that movie also, southeast asians need more recognition than just on "King of the hill" LAWL.

One good example: There is a lot more to Russia than just the capital, but that's all most people can think, because of all the "exposure" about it and nothing else. That causes everyone else to live in the shadow of our capital, and in my opinion at least, hurts the economy significantly in other areas of the country. Anyway, back on topic: I did meet a really cool Laotian girl recently, and she left a good impression, so I guess that can speak for itself.

I understand what you are saying Max and I should have mentioned that my statement was regarding the movie Gran Turino specifically. Not many people know there is even a group of people out there called Hmong. There is a long history behind the Hmong, but most people usually ask, "what is Hmong?" As you just proved yourself...there's a lot to know about us...(Laotions and Hmongs are two different nationalities)...there are many similarities but it is not the same.
In Gran Turino, even though some of the things they show aren't exactly on target...at least the people that watch that movie are now informed that there is actually a nationality called Hmong out there. Maybe they'll go out and find out a little more about our plight and why we're here. |

Ok, well I have now watched the movie (finally!) and I must say, it is very educational on top of being one of the best movies I ever saw.
