Well, some good news and some great news!

The good news is, I have a minty fresh tank on the way! Even though I cleaned the hell out of this one, I found a good deal on one that is essentially new.

The great news is, I have another baby boy!!!

The comfort factor knowing that it's a new tank will be worth it though.

Damn straight. With the tank installed, it's just a matter of topping fluids off, and double checking everything.

So here it is:
- install tank
- top off rear diff
- bleed clutch
- top off coolant (heater hose fell apart the first time, new one is on now)
- top off oil
- put new battery cables on
- put fan on

Then I just need to really kind of 'go over' everything, since nearly every major component was either pulled off or rebuilt. Basically make sure everything is torqued and hooked up properly.

Oh, and I guess it's about time to buy a battery for it. Anything else I find inop is not a big ordeal now. Since I have the other Cosmo, I can cannibalize for parts if I can't get replacements before DGRR. I know the brake lights, washer pump, and horn are inop. Might be wiring, or just old and failed. Good news, EVERYTHING works on the other car.

So awesome! I can't wait to see the car. I still fingers crossed to sell the speed and get an FD before DGRR.

Holy sweet mother of baby jesus!

This tank might as well be BRAND NEW. Can't believe it. Only difference is one little nipple that is on the passenger side facing straight up. My old one has it, this one doesn't. I'll have to look at the (somewhat useful) FSM and see what it's for, but I believe it is the return for the rollover valve. So, I shouldn't need it.

Minor update:

Had to do some serious maintenance repairs on the Subaru, so I got sidetracked on the Cosmo. (LCA's, brakes, CV axles).

My new tank will require me to drill one hole of the far right side of the tank for the evap tank return. I was hoping to ditch all that stuff, but I honestly don't know how. If anyone has messed with 70's Mazdas and has deleted the evap tank (hangs below rear parcel shelf) let me know. Nearly all of them had it (RX-4, RX-3, etc).

I believe it's the same as a charcoal canister newer cars use.

Just get rid of it. My Rx2 had it. You just need a way to vent the gas tank without it spilling. An Inline roll over valve will do. If you just cap it, you'll get that hissing pressure release at the gas cap when you remove it. No big deal.

I have a 95 Vr4 that has this issue. It's never really caused any problems.

Just an update. This Cosmo is donating it's new engine and trans to the White Cosmo.

I have an S4 NA with a Megasquirt and FC trans for Silver Cosmo. Also, Charles has the rear axle, along with a GSL-SE axle to convert bracketry over so it will drop into the Cosmo, the front will also get GSL-SE uprights.
