Stock vert wheels with 205s or 215s. Cheap wheels, cheap tires, look good, Mazda centers, yes they are 6.5" but you have no need for more tire at this time, can easily borrow Curby's for test fit. Doesn't get cheaper or better than that.

I would consider looking into some old school domestic wheels as a vintage mustang pattern would work. Just my worthless 2 cents.

Indeed. However, to make a slower car faster (quicker), lower the weight. Considering that the unsprung weight of the wheels is the greatest to overcome, I would rather have lighter than heavier!!!

More stuff happening. Pretty much all taken apart, waiting on parts!

What is this malarkey?

Looking pretty.

Here is what is left, and what is happening with the beast.

The GSL-SE stuff is going to have to wait until summer/fall to be fabbed/installed. The front struts and rear axle need to be completely rebuilt, and I don't have the funds for that right now. Since I already rebuilt the Cosmo rear end last fall, I figured fuck it, I'll just run the Cosmo stuff.

Fun fact, the Cosmo rotors are bigger than the GSL-SE stuff....

The front is all apart, waiting on ball joints, sway links, and brake pads to show up. Trans is out and getting resealed. New Exedy clutch is here.

One issue that I found yesterday....the horror of fuel that sat in a tank for 15 years....

so this is the engine that adler was messing with last weekend at charles'. the housings looked perfect!
so was it pulled, disassembled, cleaned, painted, and put it back together with the original hard seals? why all that work if the engine was good?

not hating, just curious. edit: i'm awaiting an update here with this thing running.

Those housings did look great. I wonder how much the PO paid for them when the engine was first rebuilt...

Two reasons why it was pulled.

1). It sat for 15 years (with periodic oil squirt and turns) so even though it had relatively few miles on it, I was concerned the oil control rings would be toast, and they were.

2) Charles and Adler are good men. I'll leave it at that.

I used to have the receipt.

$837 for the rebuild in 1988 money.

EDIT: Online inflation calculator says it would cost $1655.01 in 2014 money.
