Exclamation CAR SOLD!!! THREAD Closed

Anybody here interested in this? Pretty rare Mazda, and one of the best cars you could buy in 1989. It was one of my best friends cars all throughout college. After he bought a house it sat in his garage for 2 years until he sold it to me to make room for a motorcycle. It is actually pretty quick. I doubt many Civics could pull on it. This engine is a freakin torque monster!!

Here is the deal:

1989 Mazda 626 GT Turbo 5 dr hatchback.
-2.2L SOHC, Turbocharged and Intercooled 4cyl
-5 speed (needs shift rod bushings, about $15)
-HAD cold A/C (been parked a while)
-180K+ miles
-Turbo rebuilt about 20K ago
-Power windows, locks
-Power sunroof
-Auto 'swing' vents (vents swing back and forth when switched on, kinda neat)
-Interior all good, some interior parts painted blue, some white (previous owner)
-4 wheel disc (ABS inop on rear, someone did a brake job and threw away the ABS rings, easily bought at Mazda dealer)
-Auto Adjustable Suspension- 3 settings, still works

The BAD
-the interior painted pieces need to be redone, no biggie. Have some of the pieces
-brakes need overhaul
-needs tires
-needs the front grill installed
-a little rust coming through rear fender where it meets the bumper cover

I have a good amount of parts for it, and can get just about anything mechanical for it to go with the sale.

Parts that go with it:
-2 new rear brake calipers, loaded with pads
-New power steering hoses
-All ignition parts, except spark plugs
-Filters
-Valve cover gasket, exhaust manifold gasket
-Complete set of Hydraulic Valve Lash Adjusters ($$$)

Car is located just in Murfreesboro.

PM or email djmtsu@comcast.net for more details.

Definitely one of the cooler "grand" cars I've seen. Curious, what does an interior on one of these look like? How about the curb weight?

I'm just interested in learning about the model. Buying it... well maybe... I really should finish some of my other projec... oh hell

Interior looks like this, except mine is blue, and a manual trans.

No, much bigger.

The 323 GTX had the BP 1.6 engine (variation of the 1.6 in a Miata)

The 626 GT had an F22T, 2.2L. A guy on the MX-6 forums put a stock one on the dyno and made 160HP and 202ft/lbs torque on a bone stock 150K car! They were way underrated from the factory. This thing is a friggin torque monster.

Aftermarket is OK. Alot of it is DIY, but it is simple. ex: swapping compressors from a Ford turbo (T-bird, mustang, XR4Ti), hard pipes to replace IC tubing, Megasquirt, open up the exhaust, etc. All the typical tuning tricks. There are more hardcore things, like using VW exhaust valves and other head work.

No trades. If you look in the back ground, you can see I already have an S5 in the garage

you might want to hold on to it! It will hold a baby seat alot easier than the FC and still allow you to beat up on some honda's

Yes I still have the car. Had a guy from Kentucky interested, but he hasn't contacted me in a couple of weeks. If nothing happens in the next week, I am going to do alot of work to it and raise the price

And yes, BNR does make a hot turbo for it. Combine that with a Probinator ECU Chip, FD fuel pump and some FC injectors= double the power!!

Yes. Me and FerociousP put all new calipers/pads and hoses all around. I also bought a bunch of ABS rings for the rear rotors. They need to be swapped over to the new rotors when you do a brake job, and are easy to break. They are very hard to find!
