Alternator Rebuild parts
Just picked up an FD alternator and had it tested after I cleaned it. It tested dead (probably due to the cleaning), ie: not energizing at all. So long story short I'm in need of a rebuild kit. Where can I pick up the parts for it? I figure full on rebuild. Brushes (even though they look good), Diods, everything except the case, shaft, stator (can a stator go bad?), you get the picture.
So where do I get them? What will I need? I figure diods, rectifier, and brushes. Should I look for anything else while i'm in there?

Just wanted to say thank you for sharing the links. . Before searching here for possible rebuild parts I was asking myself if it was even worth it to rebuild a S6 alternator. Considering the price of a new or even rebuilt unit, I'd say definitely! ! ! This is the way to go, thanks again!

I rebuilt my alternator by replacing the bridge rectifier and voltage regulator this weekend. I had a little trouble with assembly after soldering the new components but that was user error, dummy me thought the spacer (that should go between the rotor and bearing) went between the pulley and bearing. . . needless to say it was locking up every time. Anyways, I took it to Oreilly's to have tested and it passed! Success! !
