Zoom Power Engine Cleaner
So I believe my RX-8 has a carbon build up and a friend of mine, who was a Mazda mechanic gave me his bottle of Zoom Power Engine Cleaner. He gave me the jist of how to use it and the instructions are on the bottle. But Some of the things I have no idea what it is talking about. I was hoping some of you guys could help me out with this? Pictures would be nice.

Not to push you away from this site but RX8 club has some great stickies on this. I still need to do this but it is pretty simple.
Need two people for the starting and pouring aspect but that's about it. Just hook up the cleaner to one of the vacuum nipples and squirt away. If you are feeling frisky take some pics and start the sticky here. |

Why not just use demineralized (distilled) water to clean the engine?

Mazda has a "special" cleaner that they made for the eight. It is the same thing as seafoam. It is supposed to work better and break the carbon up better. One of these weekend's I need to do this to both of my cars.

The method here is to hook a hose up to the nipples on the LIM, put the other end in the bottle of seafoam/cleaner. then go in the car, hold the gas peddle to the floor (built in fuel cut in the rx8) and crank for 10 seconds. do that for each of the housings. let soak for at least an hour. do the same process with some two stroke after, then start it back up. be prepared for a lot of smoke as the seafoam and two stroke burns off. I honestly don't know how much this really works though, IMO the water is better...

UPDATE:
I actually found what the problem was. One of the spark plug wires was off the plugs. I found this out right after new plugs and coils arrived. Good news is it was an easy fix and i have spare parts! And I was also given a complimentary empty bottle of the Zoom Engine power cleaner....but now I know how to use that or seafoam. Thanks for the help anyways guys!
