Default can you delete the silly airpump thing?

with teh MSP swap im doing, i was wondering if i can delete the airpump and the airpump valve that runs down to somewhere near the exhaust. ECU is a 2004 with a racing beat flash.

this is an emissions exempt situation. Just need to know if it will run in limp or not.

It still might need it since it is CANBUS. I don't think it will run without it. Worse case try it with out it and with it.

ill have to see if i can get it as part of the swap then. actually, come to think of it, racing beat does sell a block off plate for where it goes, i should call and ask them. ill do that and report back.

Good info. I get sniffed here in the hell of NOVA otherwise it would be gone. At least it doesn't power actuators like the S5's.

according to Racing Beat, you can remove it from the car and it will run fine. Just effects warm up emissions, so might be a problem for you smog nazi county types. But since this is going into an exempt rx2....game on!

It will burn up your cat if you delete it with the factory ECU. Racing beat sells a block off plate though for $10. I would recommend an access port if you're going to use the factory ECU. Then you can just disable the air pump codes from the computer and re tune it for warm up to be a little less rich.

just delete it...and use the block off

you can get rid of most of the wiring harness on the passenger fender side as well

It runs off a relay that is in the ecu box under the main ecu. That relay is powered by a fuse in the engine bay fuse box. You can loose all that. If there is no power going to it at all the ecu will not even throw a code. I didnt even bother ordering the block off plate, just cut one out of a steel bar I had laying around

Question: I threw the code for the air pump solenoid, Since the code is already there how do I get rid of it so I can go through emissions next year?. I don't want the emissions test to reveal a dtc stored in the ecu.

Two ways. Fix what caused the code. Or reset the computer and hope it doesn't come back. I think you can figure out which one to do.

yes, thank you. I was wondering however , if I pulled the fuse to the air pump and deleted the cel. will the deleted cel show up at next years emissions test?.

I am just courious. I will probably fix the solenoid just beforethe emissions and I was just courious however.

IF you delete the code and the cause of it coming on in the first place then no they won't see it. Do you know what caused the code to happen? and whats up with the attached picture of the 1st gen?

Thank you for the answer. Yes the code is caused by the solenoid failure to the air pump. The first generation rx7 really has nothing to do with any thing. How do I erase it if it is not supposed to be here?. sorry , it had no bearing on any thing. I have a few ist generation pics on my computer. Didn't mean to confuse you.

I don't drive it in the winter and I know the code is for the air pump which is for the emmissions to help warm up the cat other wise I don't think it has any effect on the rest of the car and I feel I don't need it so why spend money on it. Thanks
