4th annual carlisi memorial cruise & barbeque meet
4th Annual Carlisi Memorial Cruise and Barbeque Meet 2011
Saturday August 13th 2011 It’s time to get your plans ready for this year’s Carlisi Meet! Come and remember Chris, see friends and family, talk about our cars, have fun, and support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation! PM with any questions. Because we have people coming from quite far away -- Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, Alabama, Florida, and other locations -- we have expanded the event to make it a better experience for those that drive such distances. Instead of an all day Saturday event, activities now begin Friday evening and carry through Sunday. Tentative Information and Schedule Friday Evening August 12th Dinner at the Indian Rock Inn starting at 7 p.m. Menu at link below. Lodging is also available there and is highly recommended for couples or groups coming from a distance and staying over the weekend. Discounts provided for the group. (Other lodging options and prices will be provided.) http://indianrockinn.com/dining/ For those wanting to hang out afterwards at the House, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided until 11:30 p.m. Midnight swims in the lighted and heated pool are available and the pool is open the entire weekend so don’t forget to bring your suites and towels. As more couples have been coming, we have added things to do that are fun for all, so, in addition to swimming, we are going to have Volleyball and Badminton. SCHEDULE Saturday August 13th 9:00 AM ** Opens - Registration. Get your nametags and t-shirts. - Sign up for test-drives. $15 with proceeds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Several 20b owners, including Logan Carswell, David Hayes, myself, and others will be offering 10 minute drives in their cars for those wanting to get a feel for what these cars powered by turbo or NA 3 rotor motors are like. - Get ballots to vote for your Top 5 favorite cars! This year we are going to emphasize socializing more and feel a judged car show is not really why we get together. So, we have decided to honor the favorite cars solely based on what you like best, whether it’s a first, second or third gen car or an older RX2 or RX3 and powered by whatever is in them. Makes no difference if they are 12a, 13b, 20b, or a V8! The Top 5 cars will receive People’s Choice plaques and a prize. 1:45 PM ** Pre-Cruise Route and Safety Briefing 2:00 PM ** Cruise to Nockamixon Lake We have changed the route to include a ride along the Delaware River and some additional back roads. We are also going to have drinks available at the Lake. 3:00 PM ** Lunch Lunch will include Barbeque Chicken again thanks to the local firehouse (and hoping to avoid last year’s flameout!), Pig Roast (thanks to Moyer’s Farm), Unlimited Corn (thanks again to the Bechthold Farm), Gordon’s Homemade Coleslaw, and Cookies (thanks to Wegman’s Bakery). Hot Dogs, Potato Chips, Lemonade, and Soft Drinks will also be available all day long. Ron and Judy Carlisi will talk about Chris and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation during lunch. 4:00 PM ** Raffle & Auction At the end of lunch we’ll have the Raffle. This year’s Raffle will have fewer, but larger prizes, so that people have more time for the cars and socializing. Each person who pre-registers and buys raffle tickets will receive in their Welcome Packets one of the smaller items we gave away in the Raffle last year. 6 PM ** Car Show Winners Announced There really is not an ending time. People can stay as late as they like. 8:30 PM ** Sundown Sunday, August 14th There will be a brunch and general 'hang out' session in the morning and early afternoon for those who traveled from afar and want to prolong their stay in scenic Pennsylvania. There are no planned events, but we may take a small cruise on the route that the 20b drives took Saturday in a nice little hidden valley near the Delaware River. Breakfast Coffee Cake (again courtesy of Wegman’s Bakery), juices, tea and coffee will be available. DIRECTIONS TO THE MONSEN FARM FROM NJ/NY: This is the easiest way to go regardless of what Mapquest tells you! Take Route 78 W to the third exit in PA, which is Route 412 South Hellertown/Bethlehem (Exit 67) Take Route 412 South Main Street in Hellertown (approx 7 miles) After about 4-5 miles the road turns sharply left, while a side road goes straight ahead. Make sure you bear left here to stay on 412 South. Route 412 T’s at Route 212 and joins it for a few miles. Make a Left unto 212 East (also called Springtown Road). Travel through the small town of Springfield approximately 1.5 miles after town, make a Right onto Bodder Road. Travel up the road until you see the solid white fence on the left and pull into the gates. (It's the 3rd house in the road and has a large garage.) Here is our address for Mapquest and GPS: 2861 Bodder Road Riegelsville PA 18077 Point of Contact Phone Number: (610) 346 6707 or (484) 554 0424 NOTES OF INTEREST: 1>>>There is minimal cell phone coverage in the area except for Sprint. So, plan accordingly. 2>>>GPS actually works very well out here and Mapquest directions are confusing, so please bring a GPS if you have one! 3>>>Please come with a full tank of fuel as gas stations are scarce in Monsen territory. 4>>>Bring your swimsuit, there is an outdoor pool available. 5>>>If you have one, bring a folding canvas chair to sit on as existing seating is very limited. 6>>>After the cruise, please attempt to park in the same parking spot you were in pre-cruise. LODGING There is a Holiday Inn Express right at the Exit off Route 78 in Hellertown and there are reduced rates for the event. Try the Riegelsville Inn or the Indian Rock Lodge. The Riegelsville Inn is a small older hotel that has a pub and a restaurant. The pub has live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Food is good and priced well relative to Manhattan. It’s only 10 minutes away. The Indian Rock Lodge has very nice rooms and is right on the river. It has a nice upscale restaurant where we are going to have the Friday night dinner for those arriving Friday. Both are right on the Delaware River and you can see the river from your rooms. It’s about 15 minutes away form the Monsen House. All have rooms for the 28th. http://www.hiexpress.com/hotels/us/e...se/hoteldetail http://indianrockinn.com/ http://www.riegelsvilleinn.com/ PARTIAL LIST OF VENDORS AND SPONSORS: Defined Auto Works Speed1 Malloy Mazda Rotary Performance REGISTRATION IS OPEN! Registration is open and we have over 30 guys registered so far. We are thinking of having "POLO" shirts this year instead of T-SHIRTS, since we all have so many T's. If you would prefer POLO'S, post up your opinion? We need to make a decision by end of next week. Pre-registering is $25 per person with registration at the event being $30. T-Shirts are $20 with pre-registration and $25 at the event. (If we go with POLO's, we'll have to bump it some.) We need you to give us sizes -- small, medium or large -- along with your registration. (Btw, Dave Barninger at Speed1 -- old KD Rotary -- is giving away his Speed1 T-shirts to the first 20 registrants... Thx Dave.) PayPal your registration at Carlisi2011@gmail.com Looking forward to seeing everyone!!! The Canucks are bringing "POUTINE". So, we'll have a lot to eat and some new stuff to try. Pig roast, grilled chicken, fresh corn on the cob, Gordon's coleslaw and Suky's salsa!
