DGRR 2009: Totally IN!

My first rally of any kind, and I was very glad to be there. Kudos to Phil and all who assisted in last week-end's event. Also, thanks to Steve for his seminar; for a life-long motor-head/hot-rodder/dirt-rider, it was a little basic at times, but I did learn Mucho. Made me sick at heart to see the "casualties", but I'm grateful it was not worse. Wife Carolyn has not stopped telling friends how much she enjoyed it. INFO Sharing: we stayed at a very nice B&B on Santeetlah Lake called "Blue Waters Mountain Lodge", because of late sign-up, and lack of familiarity w/Nantahala...wonderful rooms, very pleasant hosts and staff, great food, and very close to both The Dragon and to Robbinsville. Chk out their web-site, as an alternative.
www.bluewatersmtnl.com P.S.: our '93 BB was the one with the right headlight cover missing. Zoom-Zoom!

maybe next year one of my rotary powered cars (or at least an rx-7) will make the trip.

I'll definitely be back. This was my second DGRR so it's a tradition now.

I know there are a bunch of people that would go, but don't know about it. I know a bunch of poeple that don't visit forums that would have went. I also think it would be a good idea to have a mailing list and send out some flyers. It would expand the event and let more people know about it. Send a group of flyers to all the RX7 shops, including dealerships and whatnot. This event could be huge with the right marketing. The internet works, but not everyone is computer literate .

The flyers at rotary shops and whatnot is a great idea, I can't think of any reason why any shop owner would be opposed to such a thing.

Hopefully I will be able to make it next year, it sounds like ya'll had an amazing time this year!

I honestly can't stop thinking about how much FUN I had this year , and what I'm bringing next year (3 cars ??) ... I liked the Nantahala Village as well , and I didn't mind the extra drive time to get to the Dragon ... actually , the drive on 28 through the Fontana Dam area was terrific , we drove that way the last 2 days we went up there ... I'll DEFINITELY bring more people with me next year too , as there are more RX7 owners here in P'Cola that have RUNNING Cars now ... can't wait

Woot!!!

I am glad we are discussing it again. DGRR 09 will be my 4th year. Its the only event I schedule at work on Jan 1st when my vacation time gets renewed!!!

I am partial to Fontana Village again. We stayed there the first two years (others 3 years) and while it has negatives, the positives outweigh them in spades. Location, location, location.

Damn I love DGRR, and Phil by default
