Default Fuse List

Here's a list of the (interior) fuses and what they do. It's been a while since I've looked at it, but I think it's accurate. Just wanted to post it up before I forgot and I'll look over it later.

I think it's listed left to right, top to bottom, according to the diagram on the cover.

This is for a S4 N/A.

Stock Turbo Information (S4)

The stock turbo on an S4 features an 11-blade turbine measuring 64mm (2.52 in). The scroll's smallest area is 6.00 sq. cm (0.93 sq. in) primary path, and a 9.48 sq. cm (1.47 sq. in) secondary path. The distance between turbine shaft center and the center of area was 59.4 mm (2.34 in) for the primary path and 60.4 mm (2.38 in) for the secondary path. The compressor is a 12-blade design, with a 63 mm (2.48 in) diameter. The maximum turbine speed is 110,000 rpm.

The S4 FC featured a unique twin-scroll design that virtually eliminated turbo lag. At low speed, exhaust gas enters the turbo via the primary path. When the engine reaches 2500 rpm, the secondary path is opened.

Maximum Boost Levels

* 2000-5000 rpm: 320 mm mercury (0.42 bar/6.2 psi)
* 5000+ rpm: 280 mm mercury (0.36 bar/5.4 psi)
* Fuel Cut: 400+ mm boost

Edit: I guess I should of read Roen's post more carefully because this is on there too. Oh well...

METER: Gauges, alternator warning, cooling fan control, cruise control, reverse lights, HVAC, warning lights, reminders, AAS, alarm, 4AT control
POWER ST: Power steering, rear defrost relay, antenna relay, starter cut relay
POWER WIND: Power windows, AAS actuators
TURN: Turn indicators, rear defrost switch
REAR WIPER: Rear wiper
WIPER: Front wipers
SOFT TOP: Convertible roof
COOLING FAN: Electric radiator fan

Here's some reasons why some of the fuses could blow/keep blowing.

Main Fuse (80A):
Battery hooked up backwards
Alternator cable terminal end touching anything grounded or chaffing anywhere

Engine Fuse (15A):
Main Relay/ Circuit Opening Relay/Fuel Pump

(Wayne88N/A from RX7Club.com)
1) Disconnect the plug from the back of the alt
2) Disconnect the circuit opening relay (pull the plug)
3) Insert fuse. If it blows, you have a wiring problem in the alt voltage reg/excitation circuit wiring (I'd look near the plug for chaffing against the water pump housing or front housing), the power circuit wiring for the fuel pump/circuit opening relay, or the main relay (or wiring going to it) is bad.
- Isolate those three down to find the gremlin...
- If it doesn't blow, reconnect the alt back plug and try again. If it blows, your alt volt reg is bad.
- Disconnect the fuel pump plug at the left aft strut tower...
- Reconnect the circuit opening relay. It if blows now, you've got a short in the wiring to the fuel pump connector, or the
circuit opening relay...If it doesn't blow...
- Reconnect the fuel pump connector. If it blows now, you probably have a bad fuel pump.

EGI Comp (30A):
- Feeds all the solenoids on the rack and the two solenoids on the ACV.

- Look for a broken wire around the acv solenoids or a bare wire at one of the solenoids on the left of the engine.]

- Check the wiring bundle in back of the alternator, I had (and someone else I know) had this same issue and it was due to the following problem; There's a metal clip, used to hold the bundle in place that is connected to the back of the alternator pivot bolt. After years of vibration, this metal clip wears at the insulation and causes a short. For me, no wires were visible, but the insulation was worn enough to cause a problem. Simply wrapped the wiring bundle in a couple layers of electrical tape and removed the metal clip.
