Default updates on my 7

it's been a while since i've been on here, so i decided to post some pics and updates on my car.it started out as an 87 base. it has the 5 lug conversion from a gxl, racing beat street header and borla dual exhaust. i've repaired the pass rocker panel and all of the dints and dings on the car. the fenders have been repaired as well and stripped to metal and primed.i've added a alluminium t2 hood. it has an electric fan from a 95 taurus. this winter i plan on replacing the trans and clutch and installing a lsd rearend. it has a rear seat that i'll be removing and installing the bins back in because my 2 sons are almost too big now to sit in the back.i'll also be installing black carpet to finish the interior. it's a work in progress.this is what it looked like when i first got it.

Some of us are tired of dealing with rust problems and possible security issue - thieves pry open the sunroof to get inside the car.
I've found one locally, but he wants an insane amount for a 1986 base model with a blown transmission - he won't go less than $1700.
sheesh

Been there, done that...
Had a glass moonroof, and it's just too hot, especially here in Hawaii...
I sold that and put back my original metal one.
Sorry for the threadjack.

i would love to have a sunroof. i've removed the ac system. it's not that big a deal since i hardly use the a/c in my other car. not a prob with the jack, input is welcomed. i'm undecided about my car though, there is someone on another forum that wanted to trade me his 85 gsl se for it. he didn't tell me the whole truth about his car so i didn't trade him. i'm having second thoughts about my decision.

I dunno why anyone would trade down for a 1st gen (even though it's a GSL-SE), unless they were feeling nostalgic?

Rack & pinion versus recirculating ball steering
IRS versus live rear axle

Sure, the 1st gen is lighter, but the FC is just a better package overall.

The FC 13B engines were basically bulletproof versus anything that came in a 1st gen.
Mazda really worked out the kinks out of the 13B with the FC engines.

Still, the GSL-SE with a 4-port FC engine in it = a lot of fun in a rally.
