As long as you can avoid the auto-retracting, you are good to go!

Actually the idea of using a cd-rom mechanism from a computer might work. I do quite a bit of computer hardware tinkering. I've taken cd/dvd-rom apart before to fix a broken door. That is if you had the depth in the dash.

the main concern with that, as with any one we decide to use is; will the plastic be able to handle a full drink, and will the mounts be able to hold the assembly with the drink

That and it would have to be a tapered drink and we all know RedBulls are not tapered

i actually have a good one that i just discovered today while working on my bosses car

rx300 has a center arm rest cup holder that fits 2 cups, its a pop open one and is super shallow because of it, you should be able to integrate it into the fc's center arm rest and still have the storage bin functional

though i cant say how comfortable it would be with two cups there since you cant use the arm rest anymore

sacrifices sacrifices

ill take pics when i go back to work on monday

I have no read this thread, just saw it, but some of the most compact cupholders in an OEM are from Saab and VW.

The vertical mounting of the Saab holder is probably ideal for going beside the radio....

Those ones are Saab 9-5....2005ish.

I remember TT saying something about the Audi A4 cup holders.

I know you said you didn't want to get rid of the vents, but you could just do one side not both. I see these on Ebay all the time.

I dont know about you guys but these have always been my favourite cup holders(see below).

But no one has commented on the idea I have had for a while so it might still be original. My plan was to use the already present storage space on the door panel but to cut out a portion at one of the ends and put in a square type cup(see below) holder and box it in. Then take a piece of the material from a donor car and glue it on so it looks stock.
