Default Premix & Holley fuel pump

Has anybody experience running premix in the tank with Holley Red? I just recently noticed a leak around the body if the pump and not sure premix will cause leaking?? The pump is fairly new. I wonder if these pumps are not suitable to run with permix. Thanks s bunch

This is the second thread on this topic that I've seen in the last few days. Someone mentioned that the Holley fuel pumps seem to be prone to leaks. I don't think I'd blame this on premix. Good luck...

I've used the Holley set up on a friends car and there weren't any problems with the pump. I have run a Summit Racing kit before on my own car that is styled similar to either an Aeromotive or a Holley (not too sure since I've changed my mind so much) and had no problem with leaks.

Is this going on your RX-3 or another car?

I have contacted Holley USA, and they were unable to verify the compatibility of their pump with Premixes. They said the content inside these fuel might potentially Flood the seals and causing leakage around the housing and is not rebuildable.

What type of premix are you using?

Running a FPR? Return style, or dead-headed?

I cannot see how premix would damage the seals, since they are supposedly able to withstand gasoline. If anything, the premix should actually reduce wear inside the pump, since it would allow lubrication of anything that is exposed to the fuel.

Dead-headed systems can actually cause the pump to run hot, since the fuel flowing thru it is not moving as quickly as a return style system. The fuel flow helps to cool the pump. A pump that gets hotter, is more likely to have problems over the same pump in a system that allows the pump to run cooler.

Also, with more fuel supplies becoming tainted with ethanol, more fuel pumps are damaged by the corrosive effects of the ethanol.

1 oz per gallon if there isn't a MOP currently on the vehicle.

I've backed down from 1 oz per gallon to 1/2 oz per gallon in the REPU, as has IH8DSM. 1 oz seemed to cause too much smoke. But I got away from the Holley because it was too loud. Running the Mr. Gasket pump now without any problems.

Dont sound like a premix issue at all. I personally dont like the holley red (too loud). Mr Gasket is the way to go. Cheap and good quality
