Edelbrock carb with oil injection?
Racing Beat's Holley carbs have had a nipple for oil injection for decades. Works well enough. The oil doesn't seem to mess up anything.
I'd like to add a nipple to an Edelbrock so I don't have to premix. There is an undrilled vent casting for marine use that I'd like to drill and tap for a nipple. How would the introduction of oil affect the accel pump plunger and other carb seals? Any thoughts? |

That's true. They did flow oil into the air horn above each float bowl on the old Nikkis. I believe I have a set of old style lines somewhere.
I went ahead and added a nipple to the marine vent casting in the Edelbrock. Unfortunately most of the oil will go to the front rotor because of the way the float bowls are in an Edelbrock It's not a big deal on a Camden because the intermediate ports join just inside the manifold. If I want to get real anal I'll add a second nipple on the other side of the carb in the other float bowl (something like a 90° street fitting on top or a straight fitting on the side of the float bowl). This guarantees equal oil introduction on both sides of the carb like the old Nikkis. |

I added a second nipple on the other side like I said I was going to do. Just another straight nipple (no street fitting whatever). The rubber lines already had a nice 90° curve so that took care of that. Seems to work perfectly except the length is pretty long from OMP to top of carb. Might take a few more seconds for oil to flow in, but it is mixed inside the float bowl so there is always some oil in there on startup.
