Default setting timing.

heres the deal. I had the motor tuned, and timing was set. blew the motor. now have the new motor in. as of right now im having trouble setting the timing. I am unable to lock the timing in the haltech due to the map lock out. due to that, i was told i can check the timing by opening the gauges on haltech, where ignition advanced timing. right now it reads 18 degrees with engine running at idle. adjusted the timing on the pulley to 18 degrees, with adjustable timing light. then when revving to 2000rpm timing on heltech would read 26 degrees, then checked timing on pulley to find it at 47 degrees. is it possible the timing light is doubling the timing?

hmm...i do not know enough about Haltech to be of use i think. The standard method of resetting timing does come to find though.

when it comes down to ignition timing, the rotary engine works on a 2 cycle mode.. firing every 360 degrees instead of every 720 deg.. so your going to need a 2 cycle timing light.. sounds like your using a standard 4 cycle timing light.. if your using the 4 cycle timing light.. just divide your 47 degrees in half.. your engine is actually at 23.5 degrees with the current timing light that ur using..
