ports not matching from engine to intake
I have a glse 6 port engine that i plan on running in my bug. Bur I have a little bit of a problem. I recently bought a racing beat 6 port holly intake to put in this engine but the center two port are mismatched by almost 1/2in?
The ports on the intake match the gasket i have almost perfectly. So I came to the conclusion that the glse engine must have higher ports in the center than later engines? Is this right? What should i do about it run it like it is or epoxy the intake to match the engine? |

It's supposed to be like that. Don't worry about it.

If you are refering to the fact that the ports in the engine are much taller than the ports in the intake (center iron), then don't worry about it. This is by design. The stock intake was like that, as is the RB holley style intake.
FWIW, I have a GSL-SE 6 port engine using that same RB intake, topped with an Edelbrock 600 CFM (1405) carb, and it rocks. Even with 216K on the engine, it still runs strong. |
