how are your coils?
It can be one or more of the following: No spark, no air, no fuel.

If the battery is weak it is easy to flood...look in the service manual for the deflood procedure and try that. If it's really flooded...pull starting it if it is a MT is the easiest way
Charge up your battery really well before you try and start it again as well.. |

well, the coils (4) send current to your plugs...so if your coils are bad then your new plugs won't work.
Check this out: http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/manuals/RX-8FSM/ ^^danno is also on to something....it could be as simple as a flooded engine. CHeck the coils as per the FSM (Factory Service Manual) and get back to us....Unflood the motor and try again. IF both come back OK then look into the starter. Again, it has to be one of the following: Air, fuel, spark...

Usually things don't break sitting...so battery loosing charge and poor/slow cranking leading to a flood is the most likely.
Poor compression/poor battery/slow starter all will make it flood easier.... Start with easiest first...charge battery and assume it's flooded. If that doesn't work look for other less likely things...... |

That was going to be my suggestion.
First Charge the battery or Jump it. Second, Perform deflood procedure to make sure its not flooded. Third, try it again.

Yes More than likely your battery was low. Which caused the engine to
flood. Take your plugs out. Dry them off (use air compressor if you have one). Pull EGI, and Fuel Pump Fuses. Turn the motor over for about 5 seconds. Put your dry plugs back in. Put you fuses back in. Make sure your battery is fully charged now. Then try and start again.

You could do what Luke has suggested... But RX8 has their own little tricks to deflood. Put your foot on the gas pedal, all the way down, and crank for 30 seconds. Stop. Turn the car off, wait, and crank the car without foot on the gas pedal. Well, that was what I was told and it worked for other people... And I think I also saw that on the Mazda DVD that I received few months ago.
