Default Cold Air Intake -FREE

I had everything laying around so I built a cold air intake . It requires a plastic adapter from autozone $4.99 . The adapter was the only thing I had to buy . 4in drier ducting , and some duct tape . And some pics of the fineshed product . This is a temp setup soon I'll be building a box to go around the filter

Exposed part of filter incase of high water

Any way Like I said it was free

And what my front bumper now looks like after hitting a buzzard at 70mph

No pics of before I cut out the damaged area . But it smashed the passenger side ftp into oblivion and cracked the bumper between what used to be the ftp hole and the headlight so I just removed the other side and then cut the bumper up to the headlight

Oh and my exhaust I have yet to install

Why not just build a box to actually make use of the cone filter you have there? You're just restricting airflow to the filter...

^ Ditto. The duct isnt a bad idea, but you'll want a box around the filter. The restrictions put in place at the filter will probably counter any gains from receiving cooler air from the front of the car.

It's just two Magnaflow mufflers welded on to a y pipe made by an exhaust shop . It uses all the factory hangers and mounts

A friend of mine suggested that setup also (on the air-intake), but I think I'm gonna go back to the stock setup. It's cool on the highway, but the city driving here in Vegas kills.

I'm going to make this scientific real quick. What are the AIT's you're seeing?

With the stock setup I'm seeing about 90-104.7F (ambient is about 70 or so) at the AFM and I'm seeing about 120F at the pneulume

Nope I'm just wondering what your ait's are. if you don't know them it's cool. I'd just be curious to see how much it cooled down by running a CAI

Oh...okay.

I think I was asking the same questions when I put the CAI in...and realized that the boost wasn't really there. I'll look into the AIT's, 'coz now I'm wondering if it does help at all.

In this heat, I could be burning MORE gas on the engine (city driving, that is), but on the highway...it feels great. I do wonder if it does help.

So, I hope I didn't come off like a JERK.

It's okay, I come off as a hard ass and a smart ass 99.9% of the time. I'll only hold it against you if you don't laugh when I am to you.
