Knightsports EBS wierd stuff
Installed a Knightsports EBSIII boost controller, but it seems to be working backwards.
when the unit is on (LED on the right side of the display is on) the car only makes 0.5 bar (7psi), but it should be making the boost level the unit is set for (0.8 bar is what I have it set to). The unit should display the max boost level seen when you press the "up" button, but doesn't. The idle, with no electric or AC load is erratic and varies between 400 and 1,000 RPM (PFC is set for 900 RPM), but if I turn on the parking lights the idle goes to 1,000 RPM and is steady as a rock (PFC is set for 1,000 RPM with electric load). With the unit turned off (LED is off) is seems that the unit is out of the system. Idle is good under all conditions, makes good boost (0.92 bar, set in the PFC). But this is when it should only make the 0.5 bar it makes when the unit is on. The connection between the PFC and the wiring harness is idiot proof, but the connection to the Knightsports brain-box may not be. Could I have made the connection to the brain-box upside down? and what would/could be damaged if I have it correct now and I turn the connection over (does that make sense)? The unit display does show the boost level correctly, it just seems that the unit is "off" when it should be "on". Any advice welcome, I've spent many hours looking at the FD wiring diagram trying to figure out what could be wrong.
