Hello everyone. My name is Charleton, and you can all call me C. I grew up in TN, went to Japan in the Air Force, and fell in love with import autos. My first love was a DOHC Honda, the dream car "Skyline GT-R", and later the appreciation for the Rx7. I recently relocated to Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I bought my first rotary about a month ago, and I am learning something new about her everyday. She is an 1983 GSL. I love the classic look of the FB, and I hope to be driving her soon! I picked her up cheap with some work needed. It seems that the carb needed a complete rebuild (replaced a main jet and a secondary, gaskets..., gas lines, fuel filter, etc...), and now I have been told to drain the gas tank (fuel seems almost gellin), change the oil, and then I should be able to let her run. I can start her up now, but the gas is old...not sure how old either. I had her running after the carb rebuild, but the gas foamed up into the carb via the fuel line, and then my charcole canister pissed a gas smelling gel fluid.... I am assuming it was gelled gas. Does that mean I have to replace it, or should it be okay? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I welcome all knowledge. I want to be able to drive her this weekend if at all possible.
Other than the carb and gas prob. the body is in decent shape, interior is 25 years old...enough said, and the rims were swapped out for some 13" dayton look-a-likes...ugh. I am happy with my purchase over all, and I am looking forward to the rear wheel drive rotary. I have been a Honda/Nissan driver for a long time, and the transition is a process. One of my siblings has a FC and he helped me find my first gen, and I thank him for that. Later, C |
