hi new to rotary. I got a 1984 gs 12a when I bought it. the car was in good shape everthing works , had bad motor coolent out the tail pipe. Pulled the motor and put a different motor not rebuilt but good motor , Having a hard time getting the timing right if its timed to the book it pings and runs very poorly but if I back the timing back two gears and set it at a guess on my part 80 degree delayed , the car run great pulls hard and get fair gas milage , can any one tell me what I am doing wrong. IN ca the car will not pass smog if its not timed to what the book saids
